The Boone County Conservation District is hosting it’s 2017 Long Prairie Trail Clean-up. The cleanup is sponsored by Comcast through their Comcast Cares program. Participants who register will receive a free t-shirt and lunch.
The Long Prairie Trail bike and walking trail stretches 14.2 miles along the Kenosha Division Line railroad bed. The eastern border of the trail begins near Capron on County Line Road and ends at the Winnebago county line where it meets the Stone Bridge Trail. The trail passes through woodlands, native prairie, cultivated fields and the towns of Capron, Polar Grove and Caledonia. Volunteers are needed to help clean up the trail of litter for the season.
The cleanup starts at 8:00 a.m. in Poplar Grove at the Village Hall for volunteer sign-in, doughnuts and coffee and a short program. Volunteers will then drive to different areas of the trail or begin from the sign-in point and then walk along the trail picking up and bagging litter. Participants will also receive a box lunch.
Scouts students, area business employees, church groups, service organizations and the public are invited to help.
Bring work gloves and dress for the weather.
