Lot 61 – Prairie Meadows Estates Subdivision
Developers of the Prairie Meadows Estates Subdivision donated lot 61 to the Parks & Conservation Foundation when the subdivision was platted by Boone County in 2002.
The site is approximately 30-acres in area and remains in agricultural production. This property is leased to the Boone County Conservation District (BCCD) and will ultimately be donated to the BCCD when grants and/or other funds become available to restore the site to native habitat and develop basic infrastructure for public access and use.
This site is not open to public use at this time. This site is located directly across Caledonia Road from the Schneeman-Leeson Conservation Area.
Soils of this site indicate that this land was historically a wet meadow with a lush growth of native plants adapted to this environment. The restoration of habitat will revive this increasingly rare plant community, providing the ecology needed for native pollinators, birds, amphibians, and other species in greatest need of conservation.
